500K-sf distribution center to be built in Waller

WALLER (Houston Business Journal) – Pagewood has purchased 63 acres along US 290 with plans for a distribution center. 

The 500,840-sf facility will include 3,000 sf of office space, 36-ft clear heights, and outside parking for 218 cars and 130 trailers.

Site work starts next week.​

Transwestern represented the seller. Dosch Marshall Real Estate represented Pagewood.

Powers Brown designed the distribution center. E.E. Reed Construction is the general contractor.

Mixed-use project near Highland Park gets green light

DALLAS (Dallas Morning News) – The city council has approved plans for several high-rises on Knox St. just east of Highland Park.

The developers are Trammell Crow Co.'s High Stree​t Residential and Michael Dell's MSD Capital. The Retail Connection and the managers of Highland Park Village are also working on the project. 

The four-acre development will include luxury residential units, a boutique hotel, retail, offices, and park.

The tallest building on Travis St. will be 18 floors.

Hotelier Auberge Resorts Collection will manage the 100-room hotel.

Woods Bagot New York, Kohn Pedersen Fox, HKS, and OJB Landscape Architecture are designing the development. 

Master-planned community coming to League City

​​​​LEAGUE CITY (PR Newswire) – Hillwood Communities has acquired 540 acres for a master-planned community.

The project will include 1,250 single-family lots.

Homes will range from $400,000 to $700,000.

Senior living community coming to north Austin

AUSTIN (REBusiness Online) – Anthology Senior Living is developing a 131,000-sf senior housing community.

Anthology of the Arboretum will include 130 studio and one- and two-bedroom units. It will have assisted-living and memory-care options.

Cadence McShane is the general contractor.  

Construction will wrap in spring 2023.

Plano a top city to raise a family

WASHINGTON (WalletHub) – ​Plano has ranked fourth on WalletHub's list of the best places to raise a family in 2022. 

The Collin County city was second in socio-economics and third in affordability. It was eighth in health and safety, 37th in education and childcare, and 97th in family fun. 

Plano tied for first with four other cities for highest median family salary when adjusted for cost of living. 

Houston was fourth in most playgrounds per capita. Laredo had the second highest percentage of families with young kids. 

The rest of WalletHub's top five cities are:​

  • No. 1 Fremont, Calif.;

  • No. 2 Overland Park, Kan.;

  • No. 3 Irvine, Calif.; and 

  • No. 5 Columbia, Md. 

To determine the rankings, WalletHub compared 182 U.S. cities on 46 key metrics.

Vaquero developing multifamily complex

SAN ANTONIO (San Antonio Business Journal) – Vaquero Ventures is developing a 334,790-sf apartment complex at 1220 E. Commerce St. 

The complex will have 352 studio and one- and two-bedroom units averaging 746 sf. ​​

Amenities will include a fitness center, lounge, pickleball court, two swimming pools, and a multilevel garage with 459 spaces.​

The project is valued at $5.4 million.

Baptist Health moving forward with Westover Hills campus

SAN ANTONIO (San Antonio Business Journal) – Baptist Health System will break ground this summer on a 255,000-sf acute-care hospital in Westover Hills.

The five-story hospital will offer cardiac, emergency, and women's services.

Baptist is also planning an 80,000-sf medical office building adjacent to the hospital.

Total cost for the hospital and office building is estimated at $250 million. 

Completion is slated for early 2024. ​
