SAN ANTONIO - Unemployment in the San Antonio-New Braunfels metropolitan area dropped to 6.1 percent in February, down from 6.6 percent in January, according to labor market data by Workforce Solutions Alamo.

The San Antonio area added 9,000 jobs during the month and another 17,600 jobs over the last 12 months for an annual growth rate of 2 percent.

Local Government added the most jobs to the region in February as public schools rehired for the spring semester. This sector added 3,900 jobs during the month and 1,400 jobs over the last 12 months.
