SAN ANTONIO – The Alamo City is second in the U.S. in terms of markets where millennials' money goes the furthest, according to a JLL study.

The average millennial income in the area was $70,500, almost $10,000 less than the overall average household income in the city. The adjusted millennial income is $80,300 based on the city's cost of living being 12.2 percent less than the national average.

The $9,800 difference between nonadjusted and adjusted millennial household incomes is the second-largest in the country, behind only Memphis, Tenn., whose adjusted average millennial household income of $80,000 is $13,800 more than its nonadjusted average.

"Even with an average income, you can live a good, comfortable lifestyle here in Texas," said Walter Bialas, vice president of research at JLL.

The study adjusted millennial (people aged 25 to 34) income using data from Council for Community and Economic Research and compared it with the national average to determine the relative ease for millennials to live in each of 47 metros.
