​​​​Welcome to Aggieland water towerBRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The Bryan-College Station economy continued its seven-year expansion through 2017 according to an economic index report by Karr Ingham.

He stated in terms of overall employment areas, Bryan-College Station's economy has been performing perhaps the best out of the 25 metro areas in the state over the past several years.

Bryan-College Station's 2017 economic index was 155.7, up 2.5 percent from the previous year.

The annual average unemployment rate fell by 9.5 percent from 2016 levels, thanks to the addition of 4,400 jobs compared to December 2016.

Annual sales tax receipts for 2017 were over $3 billion, a 3.1 percent increase over the previous year.

The average home sale price for 2017 was $248,900, a 6.4 percent increase over the previous year.

There were 173 new single-family housing construction permits issued in December 2017, the highest monthly December total on record.
