EL PASO – The City of El Paso will spend $3.5 million to buy and preserve hundreds of acres of open space near Castner Range along the Franklin Mountains.
The deal represents the city’s largest ever acquisition of open space.
The property, which the city plans to call Knapp Canyon, runs along a Northeast neighborhood on Titanic St. and Devils Tower St.
City Council approved the use of funds from the 2012 quality of life bond initiative to acquire the 366 acres at the base of the Franklin Mountains.
