A rendering of the hangar from McCarthy Building Companies, Inc.HOUSTON – McCarthy Building Companies Inc. will build the Southwest Airlines Tech Ops MX Hangar project at the William P. Hobby Airport.

The hangar will be a hybrid pre-engineered metal building totaling 240,000 sf.

The facility will also have paved aircraft parking areas, aircraft wash facilities, taxiway connections, parking and loading docks.

Approximately 140,000 sf of the hanger will have enough room for six Boeing 737 aircraft.

The construction plan involves several preconstruction projects including demolition and utility relocation in addition to the construction of the two-bay hangar maintenance facility.

Preconstruction began in October 2017 with plans to begin work on the hangar in spring 2018.
