Austin Independent School District: sell, sell, sell | Austin Independent School District: sell, sell, sell | https://www.recenter.tamu.edu/news/newstalk-texas/?Item=18468 | 2017-11-30T06:00:00Z | 2017-11-30T23:00:00Z | AUSTIN – Austin Independent School District trustees voted to sell the Carruth Administration Center at 1111 W. Sixth St. to Schlosser Development Co. for $36.5 million.
The vote also cleared the way for the school district to sell several other properties, including a former school in Hyde Park that Alamo Drafthouse Cinema LLC wants to turn into a new home office.
AISD trustees also approved spending $28.4 million on the Southfield Office Building, a nine-story tower at the northwest corner of I-35 and Ben White Blvd. in South Austin.
The 142,000-sf building was recently purchased with plans for significant renovations.
Other land sales approved by AISD: - $3 million: former Millett Opera House at 110 E. Ninth St. to the Foundation for the Preservation of the Historic Millett Opera House
- $1.96 million: eight acres at the southeast corner of Tannehill Lane and Jackie Robinson St. to City of Austin
- $920,000: 1.2 acres at Doris and Hathaway Drives to the City of Austin.
