SAN ANTONIO – The owner of the downtown Aztec Theatre building has decided to turn much of it into a hotel, abandoning a two-year-old plan to create apartments there.
Local developer Samuel Panchevre wants to convert four floors of underused office space into 55 hotel rooms.
The project is still in the design phase, and renovations are expected to begin in spring 2018, Panchevre said.
Panchevre said he wants to put a restaurant and terrace on the building’s roof as part of the renovations.
The developer bought the building in 2014 and converted the theater into a live music venue.
