AUSTIN - Plans call for The Corner at West Campus, at 2504 San Gabriel St., to be open in time for students attending UT in the fall.

The building — eight stories above ground, plus two floors of underground parking — will feature 62 apartments with anywhere from one to five bedrooms. In total, The Corner at West Campus will have 207 beds.

By employing 3D virtual modeling early in the process, contractors, engineers and others involved in the process are able to better coordinate their efforts, eliminating down time.

According to city records, The Corner at West Campus replaces the much smaller, 14-unit Cedar Ranch apartment complex that was built in 1959 — part of a continuing trend in West Campus, where zoning changes made several years ago allow for greater density in the area.

University House, with 188 apartments with a total of 504 beds, is also planned to debut in time for UT’s fall semester.
