KATY (Katy Area Economic Development Council) – The University of Houston System has been allocated $46.8 million in capital construction bonds to buy land and build a state-of-the-art academic building.

The current facilities at UH System at Cinco Ranch include a 37,000-sf building where 20 degree plans are offered, but the growth of the academic center is inhibited by surrounding development.

System officials have been working with local lawmakers and business and civic leaders to expand the school’s presence for more than a decade.

The expansion will give more residents access to education closer to home.
