LONGVIEW – Good Shepherd Medical Center is set to begin a multimillion-dollar improvement project in three areas of the hospital — labor and delivery, the surgical intensive care unit and a general medical unit.

Building permit applications filed with the City of Longview place the construction value of Good Shepherd’s planned work at $3.75 million.

While hospitals traditionally have had an institutional feel, the updates will aim to provide a softer, more residential feel while maintaining infection and safety standards, said Ron Short, Good Shepherd’s chief administrative officer.
