Homes in the top ten ZIPs tend to sell four to nine times faster than the national average and spend 20 fewer days on the market than their respective MSAs.

The 75023 ZIP in Plano ranked fourth, 78247 in San Antonio ranked sixth and 78729 in Austin finished eighth.

Other ZIPs in the top ten include 02176 in Melrose, Mass., 43085 in Worthington, Ohio, 80122 in Centennial, Colo., 48375 in Novi, Mich., 63126 in Crestwood, Mo., 58103 in Fargo, N.D. and 92010 in Carlsbad, Calif.

Ranking for the list is based on the website's Combined Hotness Index for January through June 2015. The index scores all ZIPs with at least 14 active listings and ranks them based on realtor.com listing views and median age of inventory to assess supply and demand. The metrics are equally weighted and averaged out over the six-month period.
