The groundbreaking comes after Surge Homes founders spent months collecting and analyzing online surveys and in-person input from nearly 3,500 prospective homebuyers, Realtors, architects and neighbors on its designs and floor plans for the "crowd-sourced" residential projects.

The three projects launching first are:

  • Museum Blvd. 15 modern-style townhomes and single-family homes on a half-acre lot at 4819 Caroline St. in the Museum District. Sizes range from 1,372 to 1,572 sf for a three-bedroom unit, and prices are $367,000 to $480,000.
  • Upper Richton. 13 classic-style, three-story townhomes and single-family homes at 3410 Morningside Dr. in Upper Kirby. Sizes range from 1,623 to 2,251 sf for a three-bedroom unit, and prices run $416,000 to $842,000.

Surge Homes began site work last month on single-family homes, townhomes and Class-A condominium units in Midtown, the Museum District and Upper Kirby. The developer plans to begin infrastructure development in late September with vertical construction starting soon afterward. Sales are expected to start in mid-October, and projects are expected to be complete in July 2016.
