A&M Corps of Cadets march into new learning center
COLLEGE STATION – High ranking military officers and Texas Gov. Rick Perry were among those who commemorated the opening of the 18,000-sf Buzbee Learning Center along with renovated dorms at Texas A&M University.
The four-story, $5.75 million Corps of Cadets Leadership Learning Center connects the newly renovated Harrell and Lacy dormitories. These improvements are the first in a series of projects that are planned to update the rest of the Quadrangle, also known as The Quad, which serves as the historic home of the Corps of Cadets on A&M’s campus. Dorms at the Quad were built in the 1930s. The center represents the first new construction on the Quad in 73 years.
The architect’s team already has begun working on the next stage of improvements that are scheduled to wrap up in 2013. The enhancements will include another new learning center that will connect Leonard and Gainer halls, which will be renovated.
