SAN ANGELO - MedHab, a medical product company, is moving to San Angelo and possibly bringing more than 200 jobs to the city. The San Angelo operation will serve five functions: final assembly of products, technical support, a patient call center, distribution and quality assurance, according to a news release.

MedHab's pay and benefits will be least 10 percent higher than present San Angelo wage rates, starting from $13 to $17 an hour. No decision has been made on a site.

The San Angelo City Council approved about $3.54 million worth of tax incentives for the company. Incentives offered to MedHab include:

  • Employment: up to $1.8 million — $7,929 for each job, up to 227 jobs;
  • Renovations of existing plant where MedHab permanently locates: up to $575,000.
  • Capital such as machinery and equipment: up to $300,000;
  • Code compliance reimbursement: up to $12,500 for $50,000 worth of expenditures;
  • Lease assistance: up to $108,000;
  • Value of city-owned space MedHab would occupy for three years with no lease payments: $648,000, and
  • Property tax revenue incentives to be paid: $94,339.
