KILLEEN-TEMPLE - A Houston-based franchise group — Medallion Donuts — will open two Dunkin’ Donuts stores in Bell County, possibly as early as next year, the chain announced.

The expansion is part of a state and national push to more than double the chain’s restaurants in the next two decades. More than 100 new Dunkin’ Donuts are planned in Texas, alone.

In Temple, the company is looking at sites near Scott & White Memorial Hospital and Temple Mall, and searching for a location in Killeen, according to Ted O’Neal, an owner of Medallion Donuts. Dunkin’ Donuts’ stores typically have five to ten employees and are 1,500 to 2,500 sf.

The group plans to open five stores in Central Texas, including Waco and College Station, according to O’Neal.

Earlier, the company said it plans to open at least 50 restaurants in the Dallas area in the next five years.
