UT Austin opens $54M Belo Center

AUSTIN – The University of Texas at Austin College of Communication began classes on August 29 in the new $54.8 million Belo Center for New Media at the northeast corner of Dean Keeton St. and Guadalupe St.

The five-story, 120,000-sf facility provides interactive classrooms and meeting space for more than 4,200 students.

The building includes lecture halls, auditoriums, student offices and meeting rooms, as well as spaces for film screening and conferences for all college departments. The Belo Center also houses the adjacent KUT Public Media Studios.

Dedication of the center will take place on November 1.
