UTPB $264M plan for Midland and Odessa
MIDLAND, ODESSA – A master plan has been approved for University of Texas Permian Basin (UTPB) that includes $264 million in major additions to both the main UTPB campus and the new UTPB Midland Campus — formerly the Center for Energy and Economic Development (CEED) campus.
The UTPB master plan includes:
- additions of academic and engineering facilities for $73 million;
- new housing for $88 million;
- infrastructure construction allowance for $60 million, and
-
events center for $43 million.
The UTPB plan calls for additions to be made at the Midland and main UTPB campus between 2013 and 2022.
As part of the plan, UTPB officials projected growth and a push toward the university becoming a leader in the energy industry.
By 2022, UTPB plans to have 8,400 students, compared with 3,562 students last spring.
The university will add 856 new beds to the university, totaling about $88 million by 2022. That would bring the new total of beds for students at UTPB to 1,500.
