Enrollment growth, expanding campus at Ascension Academy
AMARILLO – A major campus expansion project to accommodate Ascension’s ever-growing student body is underway.
Dirt is moving on the 25,053-sf addition to the middle school wing at 9301 Ascension Pkwy. The addition is priced at $2.8 million, according to the City of Amarillo Building Safety Department.
Construction is also underway on the new high school wing. Science labs, computer labs, and a common room will be built in the new middle and high school wings. The expansion project also includes a maintenance facility, renovations of current administration areas, and an eight-lane, all-weather track that was recently complete.
The school launched a capital campaign and has raised $3 million of the $4.2 million goal, according to Ascension Academy Board of Regents President Patrick Swindell and Head of School Dr. William Summerhill.
Ascension Academy currently encompasses more than 40,000 sf situated on a 41-acre campus. The school has the capacity to serve 180 students and houses both middle and high school programs. The anticipated enrollment over the next decade is 250 to 300 students.
