$52M US 59 project in Lufkin begins

LUFKIN, NACOGDOCHES COUNTY – The $52 million, three-level diamond interchange construction project, labeled the North Near Term, at US 59 and Loop 287 in Lufkin is now underway.

The project is designed to allow traffic on US 59, US 69 and Loop 287 to flow freely through the US 59/Loop 287 intersection and will improve vertical clearances at the bridges. It covers an area of US 59 from the Moffett Overpass to just north of FM 3439/Spence St.

Work is expected to take 36 months to complete.
