AMARILLO – West Texas A&M University set an enrollment record of 7,958 students, which surpassed its previous high of 7,935 students set during the 1970 fall semester.

Enrollment increased 45 students, or 0.57 percent, from the fall 2011 semester. The College of Nursing and Health Sciences saw the highest increase.

Amarillo College saw its fall enrollment drop 25 students, or less than 0.25 percent, compared to the fall 2011 semester. The college currently enrolls 11,426 students. The decline is because the school did not allow students to register after the first day of class for the semester.
