KILLEEN - Killeen’s sales tax revenue was more than $1.5 million in August, up from $1.3 million in August 2011.

Harker Heights generated $407,935 in sales tax revenues, up from $355,660 in August 2011.

Copperas Cove also saw an increase with $306,090 compared to $257,141 in August 2011.

State sales tax revenue in August was $2.34 billion, up 18.5 percent compared to August 2011, according to Susan Combs, the Texas Comptroller.

The state’s sales tax revenue for fiscal 2012 was $24.1 billion, about 12.6 percent higher than the previous fiscal year. Collections from business sectors such as the oil and natural gas industry and consumer sectors including retail trade increased sales tax revenue for the fiscal year, according to Combs.
