Lowest unemployment rate for Laredo
LAREDO – In July 2012, Laredo had an unemployment rate of 7.8 percent, other border cities recorded double digits with unemployment rates above 10 percent, according to the Texas Workforce Commission.
El Paso recorded an unemployment rate of 10.1 percent for July and 10.2 percent for June 2012.
The combination of Brownsville and Harlingen recorded 11.6 percent unemployment for July, while a month earlier their rate was 11.5, to remain among the highest in the state.
The triple combination of McAllen, Edinburg and Mission had an unemployment rate of 12.3 percent in July and 12 percent in June to be the highest in the entire state of Texas just below Brownsville.
In July 2012, the state of Texas had an unemployment rate of 7.5 percent while Laredo had 7.6 percent in June, very close to the state average. The United States registered an unemployment rate of 8.6 percent.
