COLLEGE STATION – Texas A&M University’s 18-hole golf course is getting a $5 million makeover — the first upgrade since 1973. When complete, the course will be the best of its type on a college campus.

Renovations include replacing the irrigation system, installing new grass varieties, and adding three new holes for research and educational purposes.

Previously operated by A&M’s Recreational Sports Department, the course is now managed by Sterling Golf Management, an Aggie-owned company based in Massachusetts.

Renovations start October 1 with completion set for fall 2013.
