CORPUS CHRISTI - M&G International, an Italian resin manufacturing company, purchased 413 acres along the Port of Corpus Christi's inner harbor, on the north side of the Corpus Christi Ship Channel.

The Corpus Christi Business and Job Development Corp. approved a $3 million sales tax grant to the company.

The grant will be paid after the company opens the plant, hires 220 full-time employees and reaches $751 million in payroll. The average annual salary at the plant is expected to be $53,000.

Construction will begin once the company receives its air quality permit from the state. It's expected to take 18 months to build the plant.

There will be about 700 indirect jobs created with about 3,000 jobs created during construction.

The company plans to use state-of-the-art technology at the plant, which is expected operational by the end of 2015, according to Mauro Fenoglio of M&G Polymers PET resin division.
