AUSTIN - American Airlines will cut 62 jobs at the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, according to a notice airline officials filed with the Texas Workforce Commission. Some of the cuts will take place around November 16 while the rest will take place around December 16.
The airline filed a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act notice with the Commission saying they would cut 3,072 jobs in Texas as part of its restructuring plan.
The bulk of the cuts will occur in Fort Worth and at the Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport. American Airlines will also cut 53 jobs at George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston.
As part of the restructuring, the airline modified “work rules so as to allow American Airlines to outsource certain work across the American Airlines system, which will result in a reduction in force,” the company said in the WARN letter.
