HOUSTON - The 312,000-sf BBVA Compass Plaza at 2200 Post Oak Blvd. has reached its top height of 22 stories.
BBVA Compass is taking 175,000 sf in the building, where it will employ 800 people. It will occupy the top seven floors and a portion of the lobby floor.
The building — 12 floors of office space on top of a parking garage — is designed to achieve LEED Gold Certification. Construction costs are estimated at $50.9 million, according to state filings.
About 125,000 sf of office space will remain after the BBVA lease, and two or three office deals are signed or in the works. Another 12,000 sf has been leased to two yet-to-be-disclosed restaurants.
When completed in April 2013, it will be the first office building added to the Galleria area since Williams Tower and Four Oaks Place in 1983. Two parcels remain to be developed as part of the project.
Nearby, Skanska is constructing a speculative office building at 3009 Post Oak Blvd., as reported November 2011.
