HARRIS COUNTY – Work on the Grand Pkwy. north of I-10 is still on schedule. A 15-mile, four-lane extension of the Grand Pkwy. — known as Segment E — is under construction between I-10 and US 290. Work on the $322 million project began in fall 2012 and is expected to be complete in late 2013.

The Harris County Historical Commission is appealing a recent state district court ruling that said TxDOT could move human remains discovered in two locations earlier this summer. While the appeal is underway, construction crews are at work on other parts of the fast-moving project.

The section of work from Kingsland Blvd. to Colonial Pkwy. is approximately 57 percent complete as of the last progress report in August. The section between Colonial Pkwy. to north of Mason Rd. is about 52 percent complete. The project section from north of Morton Rd. to the south side of Cypress Creek is about 37 percent complete. A section of the project from Cypress Creek to US 290 is about 32 percent complete.
