LUBBOCK - The new 41,500-sf, two-story Petroleum Engineering Research Building is underway at Texas Tech.

The $20 million project is set for completion in November 2013, according to Texas Tech University System and the Edward E. Whitacre Jr. College of Engineering.

Spaces incorporated into the project will include faculty and administrative offices, conference rooms, classrooms, graduate and undergraduate areas, library, and engineering laboratories. In addition, the project will construct 50-80 new parking spaces adjacent to the new facility.

The project will include asbestos abatement and partial demolition of the existing 38,000-sf Exercise Sciences Center (ESC) with the associated utility tunnel.
