SAN ANTONIO – Pharmaceutical research company PRACS Institute plans to close its local operations by October 31. PRACS officials say less than 70 full-time employees and less than 50 part-time employees will be impacted in the San Antonio area.

The shuttering of the San Antonio facility will come roughly four months after Cetero Research announced that it had closed on the sale of the company. It is not immediately clear what will become of the San Antonio facility.

PRACS’ San Antonio operations are based in an 80,000-sf research building constructed a few years ago near Medical Dr. and Babcock Rd. in the South Texas Medical Center. The center, costing more than $20 million to build, houses 100 beds, research facilities and an on-site pharmacy.

The new PRACS will also move its headquarters from Cary, N.C. to Fargo, N.D., as a result of the sale.
