TEMPLE - Construction has begun on the newest school for Belton ISD — the 81,000-sf High Point Elementary School. Located at the intersection of SH 317 and FM 2483 on Starlight Dr. within Temple city limits, the school will have a capacity of about 800 students.

The project has an estimated cost of $13 million, according to state licensing.

Belton ISD purchased the 85-acre High Point property several years ago in anticipation of continued growth in the district, according to Randy Pittenger with the Belton school board.

Expected to open by fall 2013, this will be the district’s ninth elementary school.
