PEARLAND – Construction will soon begin on the new Max Road Sports Complex in west Pearland. Construction costs for the first phase of the sports park and the Hickory Slough Detention project are estimated at $5.7 million, according to construction contracts.

The facility is located off Max Rd. near Hickory Slough.

The first phase of the project includes construction of the parking lot, site utilities, a 153-acre drainage detention area and the extension of Hughes Ranch Rd. to provide access to the sports park.

Construction of the sports complex includes the 248-acre Hickory Slough Detention project as the fields are situated inside a tiered area of the detention pond.

When completed, the new sports complex will feature a 423-space parking lot, restrooms, a concession stand and 12 sports fields for soccer, football, lacrosse and other sports.

The second phase of the project involves construction of six of the sports fields and various site amenities.
