WICHITA FALLS - The 80th Operations Group at Sheppard Air Force Base's 80th Flying Training Wing (FTW) has a new facility to call home that will streamline operations and provide energy savings for the base in the years to come.
The 42,000-sf facility will house flight scheduling and features four classrooms, instructor offices and a 500-seat auditorium. This will be the first building to be designated at Sheppard as a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) silver certified building,
The building is the first of three phases in a process to update 80th FTW facilities, including plans for a new flying training squadron facility to house all five of the 80th's flying training squadrons and a new wing headquarters building.
