TEXAS - Every metropolitan area in Texas had a positive gain in construction jobs for the 12 months ended August 31, 2012, according to data released by the Associated General Contractors of America.
Houston saw the most new construction jobs (6,900 jobs or 4 percent). The Fort Worth-Arlington area was No. 2 (5,100 jobs or 9 percent) and Dallas-Plano-Irving was third (4,500, or 4 percent).
The Brownsville area saw the largest percentage gain (10 percent or 300 jobs).
Nationally, construction employment declined in 164 of 337 metropolitan areas for the 12 months. Overall employment rose in 130 metro areas and stayed the same in 43.
