MADISON COUNTY – The oil industry has caused a spike in the Madison County economy. Madison County is near College Station-Bryan.

In 2012, $260 million worth of new value has been added by the oil industry, or a 200 percent increase from last year. That equates to approximately 20 to 26 new wells with an average value about $10 million per well.

Madisonville motels have felt the impact of the oil boom as accommodations have been filling up with oilfield workers.
