SAN MARCOS – For the second month in a row, San Marcos is seeing signs of economic recovery as new housing starts continue to grow.

September saw permits issued for single-family housing starts valued at $2,633,898 for 19 new residences.

Overall permits issued during September were $19,986,468, more than double that of last month at $8,178,137.

Commercial permits also saw a marked increase with September’s number triple that of August. For September, $15,724,132 in permits were issued compared to August’s $5,048,222.
