LONGVIEW - Construction on the new Pine Tree High School athletic complex has begun and is expected to be finished by the start of the 2013 football season.
The new $15.4 million, 6,400-seat Pirate Stadium and athletic complex is the centerpiece of a $29.9 million school bond issue approved by district taxpayers in 2011. The football/soccer field will be surrounded by a track.
It is being built on 46.5 acres off W. Loop 281, adjacent to Pine Tree Middle and Intermediate schools in West Longview.
