LIVE OAK COUNTY - Three San Antonio real estate developers will break ground next month on the Live Oak Railroad just south of Three Rivers. Live Oak Railroad will open with 28,000 feet of track along the Union Pacific line by late March 2013.

The railroad will be off US 281 near the intersection of CR 313, about halfway between San Antonio and Corpus Christi.

Driven by oil and gas production in the Eagle Ford Shale, the railroad will serve as a liquids terminal for natural gas and crude oil.

Developers Barton Simpson, Greg Seay and Ken Rector are partnering with Howard Energy Partners to develop the liquids terminals for the project.

All across South Texas, rail yards are adding track to service the oil and gas industry.
