McKINNEY – The city will soon be home to Wistron GreenTech Corp., a subsidiary of Wistron Corp., a $22.4 billion Fortune 500 company based in Taiwan.

Wistron GreenTech bought the former Kone elevator manufacturing facility near the Collin County Regional Airport. The 209,000-sf facility sits on 22 acres at 2101 Couch Dr. According to the Collin County Appraisal District, the property is valued at more than $5 million.

Wistron will renovate the old corporate campus to create a $21 million electronics-recycling hub that will initially employ 80 people, with plans to increase to 120 within two years.

McKinney Economic Development Corp. has approved two cash incentives totaling $550,000, and two tax incentives pending from the Texas Commission of Environmental Quality for $250,000, and the Texas Workforce Commission of up to $590,000.
