Fort Hood in line for Fallen Heroes satellite
FORT HOOD – Fort Hood is one of six Army installations set to receive a nonprofit-funded facility to treat traumatic brain injuries and complex diagnoses. At approximately 25,000 sf, each center has a construction budget of about $11 million, according to the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund.
These clinics will serve as satellite centers of the National Intrepid Center of Excellence, located at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland.
The clinic is expected to open in 2015, according to Fort Hood officials, but funding is still needed according to Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund.
Care will include psychiatric testing, chiropractic treatment, acupuncture, neuro psych testing rooms, physical therapy, a sleep lab, space for relaxation and a family room.
