SAN ANTONIO  SOUTH SIDE - Texas A&M University-San Antonio has broken ground on two buildings that could help make its young campus the second-largest in the A&M system. Located a mile south of Loop 410, the two new structures will cost $75 million to complete.

The four-story academic building will cover 186,000 sf, including classrooms and a 400-seat auditorium.

The 23,000-sf Patriots' Casa will serve student veterans with certification programs and counseling services.

The student body has grown to 4,100 students, while military veterans make up more than 10 percent. The school, which now has juniors, seniors and master's students, is working toward a full range of academic offerings, from freshman-level classes to doctorate programs.
