A new owner for Gunter in San Antonio

SAN ANTONIO – Axle Capital Group has inked a deal for the 322-room, Sheraton Gunter Hotel. The 103-year-old hotel, at 205 East Houston St., was assessed at more than $24 million, according to the Bexar Appraisal District.

Planned renovations include updates to all the guest rooms and improvements to meeting rooms, public spaces and restaurants.

The hotel fell into foreclosure more than a year ago. Denver-based Greenwood Hospitality Group will manage the property. The acquisition is the first venture for either entity in the San Antonio market.
