SAN ANTONIO - Revived housing activity has helped the construction sector regain its footing this year and should help it grow more next year. Metrostudy said new housing starts in the San Antonio area could expand by 10 percent to 15 percent in 2013.
In September 2012, 44,500 construction workers were on the job in San Antonio — an increase of 4.2 percent compared to September 2011. That made the sector one of the region's strongest.
The sector's growth rate tied San Antonio with 17 other cities for the 68th fastest growth rate among 337 metropolitan areas studied last month by Associated General Contractors of America chapter in San Antonio.
