AUSTIN - Hotels in Austin posted a citywide 69.1 percent occupancy rate over the last year making it the highest in the state, according to the Austin Convention and Visitors Bureau.
The high occupancy rate has been standard across the city, and even higher downtown. Occupancy rates at downtown Austin hotels are 78.1 percent over the last 12 months — more than 10 percent higher than other Texas cities' numbers during the same period.
In July, downtown Austin's average daily room rate was $156.02, more than $50 higher than Dallas or Houston.
In other Texas cities, Houston hotels reported a rate of 66.5 percent over the last year, followed by San Antonio with 65.5 percent and Dallas with 61.7 percent.
