Alliance Airport runway expansion with $15.6M grant

FORT WORTH – Alliance Airport received a $15.6 million grant From the Federal Administration for a runway extension project at the north end of the airport. The extension will extend the runway by 11,000 feet, which will give the airport the ability to accommodate aircraft making nonstop cargo trips to Europe or Asia.

Since this project began, the airport has secured $215 million from the FAA, Texas Department of Transportation and Tarrant County to support the extension. There is less than $30 million unfunded remaining for the project.

The runway extension project is scheduled to begin in first quarter 2013, with completion expected in 2016.
