Toll 49 Segment 3A open for business in Tyler

TYLER – The Texas Department of Transportation has opened the 5.9-mile Segment 3A on Toll 49, which connects TX 155 near Noonday to TX 31 between Tyler and Chandler.

Segment 3A is the fifth segment of the two-lane toll project to open. The combined segments connect TX 31 to TX 110 near Whitehouse. Construction on Segment 3A began in 2009.

The $38 million project was funded through some traditional state highway funds, funds from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act and local partnerships.

Segment 3B, which will allow drivers to access I-20, is slated to open in spring 2013.
