Wimberley magnet for retirees; Medical Plaza underway
WIMBERLEY, HAYS COUNTY – Developer Robert McDonald and anchor tenant Central Texas Medical Center have broken ground on the 25,400-sf Wimberley Medical Plaza at Old Kyle Rd. and FM 3237.
Plans call for two buildings, with the first building scheduled to be completed and occupied by summer 2013. The first building has an estimated cost of $1.57 million, according to state filings.
Live Oak Health Partners will anchor the complex along with the hospital’s laboratory and x-ray services.
In addition to overall population growth, the Wimberley area is a magnet for retirees. More than 35 percent of the Wimberley and Woodcreek’s combined 4,083 residents were older than 62 in 2010, according to the U.S. Census. The median age is 52.7 in Wimberley and 57.4 in Woodcreek.
