HOUSTON DOWNTOWN - The ten-story Ben Milam Hotel built in 1926 is set to be imploded on December 9, 2012. The property is located at the northwest corner of Texas and Crawford.

Finger Cos. is planning a 380-unit apartment complex on two contiguous downtown blocks, one of which holds the old hotel. Construction is set to start in spring 2013 on the seven-story project.

The property is located across from Minute Maid Park and the old train station building, which was incorporated into the baseball park’s structure. The property has been closed since the 1970s, according to Preservation Houston.
