TYLER - Brookshire Grocery Co. has opened a new and improved Super 1 Foods store at 1105 E. Gentry Pkwy. The new 58,000-sf store replaced the smaller, 27-year-old, 38,000-sf store next door to it.

Construction began about a year ago on the 14.6-acre property, and costs were estimated at $7.5 million, according to state filings. The old store will be demolished to make room for an expanded parking lot.

The addition added 60 employees to the store bringing employment at the location to 154 workers.

In other news, two additional Super 1 Foods stores were recently renovated.

The store on 3828 Troup Hwy. was updated with new signage, floors and a new d├ęcor package, with construction costs estimated at $700,000, according to state filings. It also added 15 workers.

The Brookshires store at 113 NNW Loop 323 was turned into a Super 1 Foods. The 55,758-sf store received a drive-thru window for its expanded pharmacy and expanded products and services, with construction estimated at $630,000, according to state filings. The store also added 30 employees.
