HOUSTON - The Bay Area Houston Economic Partnership has released its latest Business Development Update. Below are some highlights from the report.

La Porte — AkzoNobel NV is building a tri-methyl-gallium plant at its existing plant at 730 Independence Pkwy. S. with expected completion in August 2014;

Pasadena — Carson 225, a new 355,000-sf industrial business park at the southwest corner of SH 225 and Beltway 8, is planned on 22 acres that were purchased;

Pasadena — Houston Refining LP purchased a 20,000-sf building on 1.4 acres at 317 Allen Genoa Rd;

Webster — ABC Professional Tree Services purchased a 42,000-sf building at 201 Flint Ridge Rd for its new corporate headquarters;

Webster — Conn’s Appliances leased 47,900 sf at the Point NASA Shopping Center at 1020 W. NASA Pkwy. at I-45; and

Webster — Construction has started on the 176-bed Bay Area Regional Medical Center at 200 Blossom St. with plans to open November 2013. Medistar has partnered with Surgical Development Partners for development, management and operations of the $160 million facility. Future expansion could accommodate up to 248 beds.
